What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a general physical preparedness program that is built upon three pillars: functional movements, variety, and intensity. CrossFit excels in building a well-rounded, extremely fit athlete. A CrossFit athlete is capable of handling any myriad of the challenges nature can throw at her.
- The functional movements mimic those found in nature and the fitness transfers directly to your daily tasks. CrossFit helps you do what you do better; whether it's pick up a laundry basket, chase your grandchildren, or fight fires.
- The variety ensures you are challenged both physically and mentally. Our workouts are not boring! Variety keeps your body adapting to meet each new challenge.
- We add the intensity only after you have a solid foundation and understanding of the movements. We often say consistency before intensity. This way, everyone can reap benefits of the program no matter what your fitness level, age, sex, experience, etc., is.
CrossFit creates workouts of the day (WODs) which are designed around these three pillars. Our workouts are short, intense (as appropriate), and constantly varied, focusing on functional movements. We teach Olympic lifting, weightlifting, kettlebell, dumbbell and gymnastics movements. We run, jump, swing, climb ropes, row and lots more. We always mix it up because routine is the enemy of true fitness.
As long as you're committed, you can get started. We will scale the weight and intensity levels to meet your fitness level, whether you are a beginner, a first responder, or an elite athlete.
