The Silent, Strong Type
CFLB member since February 2010, Jeffery Alan Jones is one of those rare athletes who has mastered a quiet strength. But don't let his stealth-like workout approach fool you - Jeff is as fast, strong and nimble as they come here at CFLB.
Jeff played a lot of sports growing up, and has toured the world in search of the primo surfing spots. A professional musician and composer, these days he spends hours on end sitting in front of a piano or soundboard. So he relishes those CrossFit WODs that get him back on his feet and moving again.
"CrossFit helps keep me emotionally and physically stable," Jeff says. "I feel lighter, stronger, faster, more flexible, more alert. CrossFit gives me a much better feeling than any food or alcohol could. Nothing tastes as good as CrossFit feels!"
Since starting at CFLB, Jeff has shed 20 pounds and a handful of inches. He's also noticed a dramatic improvement in his endurance, technique, and overall body strength. "My whole body is much stronger and more flexible, not just individual parts," he explains. "I've got better body organization and body alignment, and never imagined I'd be doing so much in the way of gymnastics."
The last guy to boast about his accomplishments, many in our gym were surprised to hear that Jeff has his Level 1 CrossFit Certification. You'll also see his name up on our leader board under multiple WODs - and his times just keep getting faster. We just watched him dominate the brutal Jackie X 3 WOD (three rounds of 1000m row, 50 thrusters and 30 pull-ups) and bust out his last set of pull-ups at lightening speed despite two gruesome rips on his hand.
Yep, you'll have to work hard to keep up with Jeff. And other athletes will tell you they love having him in the class to push and motivate them. Jeff says the feeling's mutual.
"Everyone here is great. The thought and detail the coaches put into the class programming is excellent. And maybe someday I'll be able to catch Alfredo at something."
We don't doubt it.
"Jeff hits the workouts consistently and has really focused on form and technique. He's also 100% paleo," says Coach Chad. "One day, we turned around and said, 'Damn, look at Jeff! He's rocking it!'"
