Alfredo Lopez

Certifications: Level 1, Olympic Lifting
Long before Alfredo became a certified Level 1 CrossFit Trainer, he was a student inspired by CrossFit coaches who mentored and challenged him. He's been returning the favor ever since. His experience as student-turned-coach gives Alfredo a unique perspective into teaching CrossFit Long Beach athletes. If you want a coach who knows where you're coming from - and guide you to a state of physical and mental toughness- Alfredo's your man.

Carlos brings his perspective as a CrossFit student to the On-Ramp Course, which he helps coach. A Certified Level I CrossFit coach, Carlos discovered CrossFit after coming across the main website. And he's never turned back. A former Marine, personal trainer who helped two of his clients lose a combined 100 pounds, and father of three kids, Carlos is no stranger to hard work and discipline. He credits CrossFit with helping him reach the best shape of his life. Now he's dedicated to helping his CrossFit students push themselves to do the same.
Chad Cross
chad [at] crossfitlongbeach [dot] com
Certifications: Level 1, Olympic Lifting
An avid CrossFitter since 2005, Chad came to the sport on the heels of a semi-pro BMX bike career. Following a biking accident, Chad tried all the usual suspects: running, hiking, the gym. When he didn't get the physical results - or mental stimulation - he was looking for, he decided to give CrossFit a try. The rest is history.
Today, Chad holds a Level 1 CrossFit certification, and has completed two of Sage Burgener's Olympic Lifting workshops. One of the co-owners of CrossFit Long Beach, he also coaches group classes, leads the On-Ramp course and provides personal training. He's drawn to CrossFit's evidence-based fitness program that lets you log and track your progress so you can see that it's working.
Gina Caywood
gina [at] crossfitlongbeach [dot] com
Certifications: Level 1, Nutrition, Olympic Lifting
The other co-owner of CrossFit Long Beach, Gina holds a Level 1 CrossFit certification as well as a CrossFit Nutrition certification. In that role, she provides knowledgeable and practical advice on forming good eating habits that maximize our athletes' CrossFit results. She also co-teaches the On-Ramp course, and has completed two Sage Burgener Olympic Lifting workshops.
Gina's fitness background covers the gamut of exercise: she ran marathons, did spinning classes, hiked the local mountains, tried the personal trainer route, and did yoga. When running began taking its toll on her body, she began looking for an alternative sport. She tried the usual gym routine, but she found it very boring and it produced more frustration than results. A relative late-comer to CrossFit, Gina was 40 when she performed her first pull up. Now you can't keep her away. She's running faster than she ever did in her younger years, and loves the Olympic lifts more than anything.
Mike Mello

He's also been with CrossFit Long Beach since we first opened our doors.
When he's not here, he's conducting CrossFit seminars across the country as well as teaching less-lethal force and SWAT tactics to military and law enforcement. Mike also holds a black belt in several martial arts as well as a brown belt in Brazilian Jui-Jitsu.
Travis Downing
travis [at] crossfitlongbeach [dot] com
Certifications: Level 1, Level 2
Travis has been doing CrossFit since 2002 when he read on the web that CrossFit was BJ Penn's conditioning program. He attended one of the first ever certification seminars in Santa Cruz and his experience is invaluable in tailoring CrossFit to each new athlete. His military and law enforcement experience gives him an appreciation for what's needed in a conditioning program. Travis also has teaching credentials in Jeet Kune Do, Thai Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Combat Submission Wrestling, Savate, Filipino Martial Arts (Inosanto method), and Sayoc Kali. He is an instructor with the Sayoc Tactical Group, which specializes in edged weapons tactics for military and law enforcement.
