Chad Cross

Certifications: Level 1, Coaches Prep Course, Mobility and Recovery, Olympic Lifting, Running/Endurance

An avid CrossFitter since 2005, Chad came to the sport on the heels of a semi-pro BMX bike career. Following a biking accident, Chad tried all the usual suspects: running, hiking, the gym. When he didn't get the physical results - or mental stimulation - he was looking for, he decided to give CrossFit a try. The rest is history.

Today, Chad holds the CrossFit certifications listed above, and has completed two of Sage Burgener's Olympic Lifting workshops. One of the co-owners of CrossFit Long Beach, he also coaches group classes, leads the On-Ramp course and provides personal training. He's drawn to CrossFit's evidence-based fitness program that lets you log and track your progress so you can see that it's working.

Gina Caywood

Certifications: Level 1, Nutrition, Mobility and Recovery, Olympic Lifting

The other co-owner of CrossFit Long Beach, Gina holds the CrossFit certifications noted above. In that role, she provides knowledgeable and practical advice on mobility and forming good eating habits that maximize our athletes' CrossFit results. She also co-teaches the On-Ramp course, teaches the mobility classes, and has completed two Sage Burgener Olympic Lifting workshops.

Gina's fitness background covers the gamut of exercise: she ran marathons, did spinning classes, hiked the local mountains, tried the personal trainer route, and did yoga. When running began taking its toll on her body, she began looking for an alternative sport. She tried the usual gym routine, but she found it very boring and it produced more frustration than results. A relative late-comer to CrossFit, Gina was 40 when she performed her first pull up. Now you can't keep her away. She's running faster than she ever did in her younger years, and loves the Olympic lifts more than anything.

Julia Delgado

Certifications: Level 1

Julia discovered CrossFit in 2008 when researching Jiu Jitsu and kickboxing schools, and she's been at it ever since. She came to the sport with a background in competitive softball, basketball and martial arts. A student of karate since age twelve and a former karate instructor, Julia brings an ideal balance of patience and discipline to her CrossFit coaching method. She also brings her unique perspective as a former CrossFit Long Beach student, which allows her to both empathize with and push the athletes.

A certified Level 1 CrossFit Trainer who has completed two Sage Burgener Olympic Lifting clinics, Julia coaches our On-Ramp course. You'll find her name repeated multiple times on our leaderboard, where she's knocked out a couple of guys under the max pull-up category. Always up for a challenge, Julia loves the technical aspect of Olympic lifts which take years to perfect. When not coaching and working out, Julia spends her free time researching everything there is to know about CrossFit. She's currently completing her degree in Mathematics at CSULB, which she puts to good use counting out her students' reps.

Certifications: Level 1

A devout CrossFitter since 2007, Melissa Jones grew up in an athletic environment.
