  • Occupation: Director of Sales and Business Development
  • When did you first start CrossFitting? 03/01/2011
  • When did you first start training at CFLB? 03/01/2011
  • Favorite WOD: None has stood out. Each has its own memories.
  • Least Favorite WOD: FRAN!!!

Tell us about you sports & fitness background: I wrestled all four years in high school. After that, played basketball and weightlifter mostly.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD... what was it, and how did it feel? A friend introduced me to CrossFit as a way to stay active and get strong at the same time. I was recovering from reconstructive shoulder surgery and became lazy. The first WOD I ever did was the free introduction class which consisted of body squats, beginner pullups, kettlebells and a run. I felt like crap after, close to passing out, but I loved the rush. I was hooked.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF? (before / after): Since CrossFit, my body has transformed and have been in the best shape physically. I've gotten bigger and stronger while losing my gut. Playing basketball is never a strain and I've been able to compete in races such as Tough Mudder. Would have never been able to compete or finish this race had it not been for CrossFit.

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected? Some life changes that have occurred has been health and diet. I've begun to cook and bake more in order to eat quality foods. I've been less sick since changing to Paleo. I've also made many new friends since joining CFLB and dropping in on other boxes.

Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / CFLB moments: Competing everyday against everyone is always a favorite moment at CFLB. I love competing! I love beating my friends and absolutely hate it when I lose. But that only fuels the fire to work harder. Just recently, I've hit PR's in squat 300#, Deadlift 355#, Strict Press 125# and split jerk at 195# all while unable to rack the weight on my shoulders. Very close to being on top of the leaderboard for high box jump - I will stick 51" soon!

Any advice for people just getting started? Listen, ask questions, practice. Soak it all in and give it your all.

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?: Outside of CrossFit I enjoy spending time with my family, especially with my three kids. Away from the family, it's all about golf and the occasional bike ride. Sleep is a great hobby too, when the kids aren't around.
