TEAM PATRICIA AT BEACH CITIES BATTLE TODAY! COME JOIN THE FUN!

Team Patricia is heading over to Torrance to watch the awesome Patricia compete in the Beach Cities Battle. She's in Heat 2 so her first WOD will be shortly after 9:00AM. Bring sunscreen, a chair and food/beverages to eat. We do have a pop-up tent for Patricia so come on by. Everyone is invited!

If you know Patricia, you'll know that A) she is a kick-ass CrossFitter who loves to rub chalk all over her body, B) is probably the most humble person you've ever met (e.g., didn't want us to put the word out that she's doing this competition), and C) has come so far in the past 2 years she's been CrossFitting.

Many of you have come to me saying what an awesome athlete Patricia is. And she truly is. So I wanted to give you a little background on her path to awesomeness.

Chad and I hired Patricia, a highly-talented writer/communicator, back in 2009 to revamp information on our website. As she learned about our business, her interest was piqued. She hadn't done much exercise in the 8 years prior, if I remember correctly -- having 2 kids slowed things down a little. But the kids were old enough and this CrossFit thing looked interesting, so after a few months of contemplation,  she got up the nerve to give it a try.

How did her first workout go? She couldn't finish. I still remember her sitting on the floor, looking upset and a little discouraged. She later learned she had asthma. And if you've WODed with her, you've heard it.

You want to know Patricia's secret? Commitment and focus. She consistently CrossFits 5 days a week. No excuses. If work meetings or other obligations get in the way of her preferred 9:00AM class, she'll come in at 5:30AM or 8:30PM. When she got a stress fracture in her foot, she kept working out and just modified her WODs. It did not slow her down at all.

So for all of us out there that look at Patricia or any other badass out there, know that they didn't just wake up and become an awesome CrossFitter. They have trained hard. They are consistent with classes, take the classes/coaching seriously, do not chit-chat during the warm-up (which I am guilty of), and hit the WODs with everything they have. So if you want to be Patricia or [INSERT YOUR FAVORITE CROSSFITTER NAME HERE], just put in the time and it will come.

Now back to my original point -- come cheer Patricia on today! You can come after class too. We'll be there all day to watch her rock it!
